Patriots

Saturday entailed covering the 112th annual Army-Navy football game in Landover, Md. Everything about the event is special. While it's about a football game in the end, it's also about everything surrounding the game. The cadets, the midshipmen, the tradition, flags, etc. It's nice to see football for what it really is, a diversion from all the turmoil around us. The kids in the stands and on the field will go on to do much greater deeds than playing a sport. God speed.

A walk in the park

Spent the afternoon shooting two different family portraits on the grounds of the local school down the street. In the midst of changing poses, I spotted this man walking through the trees. Quite the contrast from trying to make little kids smile.

Along the way, a scandal.

Spent a few days on the Penn State University campus last week as the mess of a sex scandal unfolded. While I wasn't there for the craziness of the so called "riots," I did manage to chase Joe Pa around for a day or two and came away with this image. His last time on the field as head coach of the football team he guided for so many decades. A few hours after this was taken, he was fired.
